For those of you who are follow the US Department of Education's involvement in teacher preparation, you will be interested to know that the new regulations for Title II of the Higher Education Act seem to have been delayed once more. As this report from Education Week describes, the Obama Administration had previously said that the regulations were to be released this past summer after a breakdown in the negotiated ruling making process two years ago. The new regulations would further define "at risk" and "low performing" programs and/or institutions in educator preparation. Context is everything?

I was fascinated by this recent blog post in Education Week about "on-the-job contextualized support" for new teachers that is being promoted by the YES Prep Public Schools in Texas. It says a lot for having a very strong induction program for first year teachers in their new schools. How might this idea be applied to pre-service clinical experiences? Is it possible and feasible? What do you think?
